Time to clean up!

Updated: Apr 3, 2019

Every year, it's inevitable, the calendar year changes to January and the New Year comes sooner and sooner it seems every year. We always promise ourselves to catch up on new home projects and start de-cluttering. I decided to do just that with the arrival of my freshman in college for winter break. Her room was a disaster to say the least. When we moved into our newly built home 4 years ago, bedrooms were not on my short list. I figured if each of my kids have a place to sleep that is good enough. But, my eldest really got the bottom of the barrel in terms of furniture. She had an ikea metal bed frame from our old home and one dresser from our old home. So, when I redid my bedroom a year ago, I decided that we could not part with my gorgeous green velvet headboard, so, I handed it down to my eldest, even though it was a king size. I thought I would make it work, so I threw down her queen size mattress and boxspring on the floor and that was that.

Fast forward to this year, and I spotted the West Elm Black Friday sale. At first, I was only making over my middle schooler's bedroom who was itching to get out of her purple bedroom, but since the sale was just too good, we decided to get my eldest a nice dresser, nightstand and 5 drawer dresser as well. And then things just kept happening...like her chandelier was swapped out for a gorgeous Anthropologie tassel chandy. I also, bought a platform to raise her bed a bit from Amazon and tossed her boxspring. And then then, the creme de creme of the bedroom, this gorgeous rug from Boutique Rugs! There are still a few more items coming in, like a gorgeous piece of art that my daughter picked out from www.chambersaustelle.com and a 5 drawer dresser from West Elm! I will update as soon as they are in!

And, so now, the question begs, can my daughter stay here forever?! Alas, she's off to college soon again and she can really enjoy this new space this summer and beyond!
