One Room Challenge-Week 2
Updated: Apr 11, 2019
Ahhh- I made it. Week 2 of the Spring #oneroomchallenge is upon us. I have made it and I am proud of myself for being able to link properly my week 1 blog lost. Thank you Better Homes and Gardens for making this as easy as pie with all of your precise instructions! #BHGORC
As I begin week 2 of the One Room Challenge, my mind is racing with everything I need to accomplish. Do I have a plan, do I have a proper timeline, will I finish in time? I figured the best way to organize my thoughts was to put them down on a mood board. So, I immediately consulted my client (my 13 year old) and we sat down and went through pages and pages of Pinterest to see what kinds of things sparked her interest.
Since she tired of the purple and I think that she would tire of any color, we decided to go super neutral and try a white paint color that I have been meaning to use....drumroll please...the ever popular Simply White from Benjamin Moore. The paint color was a very easy choice and thankfully my daughter approved. She took her mom's wise advice to heart. (mommy points)
Next was the main focal point of the room and that was the wall behind her bed. Since we were sticking to a plain white on the walls, I suggested a wall of wallpaper behind her bed and she loved the idea. That was the easy part. The hard part was agreeing on a pattern. I have always dreaded the idea of something so permanent on the wall, then, I ran across this amazing instagram account called Coloraydecor who carries removable, peel-able wallpaper. Suddenly, I heard the angels sing. Why have I not heard of this before? Up until now, I only heard of wall decals, but never actual sheets of wallpaper. So, I messaged her to get more details and all she needed was the print that we wanted and exact wall measurements including window measurements as well. I picked out a bold and moody pattern and my daughter picked out a very subtle pastel and neutral pattern. Trust me, this was a heated argument, but in the end, I figured this is her room, she wins! We are going with this gorgeous Vintage Floral pattern.
I figured since we have the color of the wallpaper picked out, I will try to pull colors from the wallpaper for bedding, accessories, and maybe the actual bed. So, here is what we came up with this week for the mood board! We are so excited to start painting and get this done!!!
