One Room Challenge-Week 1
Updated: Apr 4, 2019

If you are a new visitor to my blog, welcome! My name is Reem and I will be participating in the One Room Challenge as a guest participant and I am so excited about joining this great platform. Better Homes and Gardens holds this biannually and I have always been amazed by the transformations #BHGORC! This will be my first year participating and I am so pumped to get this room transformed!
What will I be transforming you may be wondering? Well, as of last Sunday, my 12 year-old became a teenager and she has decided that her 'purple vintage Barbie' room is too young for her. Yeah, I guess I must agree. Take a look...

When we built this house, all of my kids wanted color on the wall, in the literal sense. Although, I was completely against this, I obliged because I am a nice mom. I should have stuck with my gut and insisted on white walls, but that is okay, because I am so inspired to do this correctly this time around. Wouldn't it be amazing to have a wall of wallpaper, perhaps some treatment on the wall, who knows...the options are endless, but money most definitely is not. So, I will try to be smart about this and control my budget. Ahh, wouldn't it be amazing! Here is some inspo that has me excited about this project!
Here is what I need to do:
1. Sell/donate her furniture
2. Paint the walls
3. Possible wall treatment (wallpaper or shiplap)
4. Buy more appropriate furniture
5. Change light fixture (if possible)
6. Find a rug
7. Find a way to hang a chair on a 16 foot ceiling
8. Find more age-appropriate accessories (no more Vintage Barbie)
One item that is an absolute must in the new room will be the Anthropologie hanging chair. It is without a doubt going to make it into this room. It was the only thing that my daughter really asked for. I mean, seriously, these chairs are so cool and I think I need one too! Here is the inspo chair...
Here is the current situation of the room:

As you can see, there are so many things wrong with this picture. I admit that I really did not put much effort when we moved in. There were more important things on my mind like the kitchen, the family room, the main living spaces. We slapped a color on the wall and basically called it a day. She inherited a bedroom set from my eldest, which we have had for about 15 years. Well, the time has come my friends. This is getting a major makeover! I have so many ideas spiraling in my mind and I cannot wait to get started. So, #oneroomchallenge, here we go!

So, come along with me on this journey! Welcome to the One Room Challenge! And make sure to check back next week when I reveal the mood board!
